I'm on Lynn Allen-Johnson's downline, and have read your booklets and listened to Dr. Christine's CD, published by USANA. On my annual physical exam, I brought your (Ladd McNamara's) mini-booklet to my primary physician, a husband/wife team, and it's now approximately 2 weeks since she has had the opportunity to read/process the information/studies. What is your opinion, Dr. McNamara, on how I should go about marketing USANA vitamins, including Vitamin D, the Essentials, etc., and the business concept to her? They have a busy practice in a suburb of Orlando, Florida, and see over 50 people/day. Thank you.

This is great info. Thankyou DR McNamara.
My question is about the relationship between calcium, magnesium and vitamin D3 when supplementing for maximum absorption.

Would you please give some guidelines for this?
From my reading it would seem that Vit D3 on it's own is not at it's most usable by the body? Is this correct? If so then it would seem that Active Calcium and Vit D3 should be taken together. And in what amounts?
With Thanks Lisa Dent, Sydney Australia

On the topic of Vitamin D, the importance of vitamin D in the development of cancer was further confirmed by a a 2009 study from Sylvia Chistakos, Ph.D., of the UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School. Her research, published in The Journal of Biological Chemistry, showed that the active form of vitamin D induces the development of a protein that can stop the growth of breast cancer cells.

I just found out from new research that as yet there is no definitive scientific support for the new model of cancer development, the authors of the study say that maintaining proper levels of vitamin D could potentially end the growth of cancer at its very earliest stages.

Ususally, 1000 to 2000 IU per day would be safe; but, that is something that should be cleared with the child's pediatrician.

I'm on Patti Roney's team and remember hearing you speak on her Global Calls night, but wasn't sure of another way to contact you about this: I know a 2 year old who already is showing some signs of respiratory problems. His mom is taking 4000/day and would like him to see benefits of it also. What levels of Vitamin D would you recommend he take along with his 1 USanimal tablet per day? He weighs about 30lb. Thanks so much.

I enjoyed your article! I have already been prescribed a high dose vit D, but now I will question my blood levels and ensure that I have the correct dosage. Unfortunately, I have found that in order to receive the health care I deserve, I have to be armed with knowledge and ask LOTS of questions. I am amazed at how little doctors know about diet and nutrional supplements! Thank you!
